I was very saddened to learn of John's passing. He was a larger than life figure who's enthusiasm rubbed off on everyone he met. He came to Tasmania in 1966 after playing at Geelong from 1963 to 1965. He led TFL club Hobart to a Premiership in his first year and I believe he is the only Coach/Player to have played in three premiership with different clubs in different States. I enjoyed our Monthly telephone conversations and he always had a new "gag" to tell. You were a Legend. RIP " Wattsy "

Wattsie played for Maylands Junior Football Club not Bayswater. His name WA on our board and he said as much on radio a number of times including when Maylands under 17s won in 1983. He came down to watch and said on radio the next day how his old junior club won the flag. In true Wattsie humour he said that to get in the team you had to run with a Rv under your arm while being chased by a copper

A great story Ken, I was really sad to read of Wattsie's sickness and the big C diagnoses; he big C seems to catch so many unawares these days. Hopefully you and I can escape it, but who knows?

I had the good fortune to work with Watts and Martin and John Barnett as compere during my filming of the 1983 Derby Centenary. A week long event of activities in and around Derby.
It was quite an event for Derby at the time (and the locals) to get a stable radio link via telecom to Perth to present the Watts and Martin breakfast show live from the Boab Inn Derby. I still have the video recording of the event in my library if anyone is interested.

Just to mention my recent move to New Zealand is working out brilliantly, it's definitely a great place to live. The new home is virtually finished and most of the unpacking is done.
Best Wishes,
Harry.

P.S. All of my production equipment came with me and is now ready for work.
